Janet Grosshas
officially been a Master Gardener for 6 years, and is also now a
certified woody plants expert. She grew up sitting in trees reading
her father's herbals and helping him with his beekeeping. She has
taught landscape design and gardening classes for continuing
education at CCBC, is a Master Composter and certified native plants
expert. She has a huge interest in herbs and landscape design.
Janet grows both culinary and medicinal herbs on an acre and a
quarter in Catonsville. On another part of the wellness continuum,
she is also a licensed massage therapist and is honored to
facilitate others' healing. She enjoys educating people about their
bodies and how to treat them well. She believes that Gardening
touches on all aspects of healing, including mental, emotional,
spiritual and physical health.
Philip Tulkoffis
the president of Tulkoff Food Products and is the grandsonof the
founders Harry & Lena Tulkoff. Phil took over as President in
2005.His previous experience includes eleven years in the aerospace
engineeringfield and eleven years in computer consulting. He
received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University
and his MBA from Loyola University.
Dr. Andrew
Pengellyis
a key member of the Herbal Medicine Department of Tai Sophia
Institute (Maryland) where he
serves in the teaching faculty, director of the herb dispensary and
lead research officer. He completed professional training programs
in botanical medicine, naturopathy, and homoeopathy in 1983 at the
Southern Cross Herbal School (Australia), and obtained his
bachelor’s degree from the University of New England in 1997. During
this period, he practiced as a medical herbalist, lectured widely in
Australia, New Zealand, and the United States and was nominated a
fellow of the National Herbalists Association of Australia. In 2002,
he initiated a research project into the ethnopharmacology of
Australian indigenous plants, completing a doctoral thesis on the
topic in 2008. Dr. Pengelly is a professional member of the American
Herbalists Guild and United Plant Savers, and is currently
researching and documenting medicinal uses and ecological aspects of
traditional Appalachian herbs.
Michael Judd
has worked with agro-ecological systems and landscapes throughout
the Americas for the last 16 years focusing on applying permaculture
and ecological design to increase local food security and community
health in both tropical and temperate growing regions.
The founder of both
Ecologia LLC, edible & ecological landscape design and
Project Bona Fide, an international non-profit supporting
agro-ecology research. While he
continues to raise awareness and funds for his project in Nicaragua
in the U.S., Michael currently offers design consultation and
implementation services specializing in edible landscapes through
Ecologia, LLC.
